Tiffin Box

Tiffin Box is a Bangalore based band, made up entirely of 16-17 year old school kids. They play some sort of metal, not sure which. The vocals're very screechy, remind me of Black Metal, but nothing else about the band is black metal at all. So I'd just say metal and stop. They fuse Hindustani classical vocals with it, which is done extremely well. So I guess it could fall under Experimental. They have two singers, one for the classical vocals, who's voice sounds extremely mature, (considering he's probably not grown facial hair yet, but it's alright, I don't think any of them have), and they've found the perfect balance between the harsh vocals and clean.

Tiffin Box consists of the following members:
Parag Parekh - Indian Vocals
Siddharth Nair - Harsh Vocals
Bhargav Sosale - Guitars
Clinton D'Souza - Guitars/Backing Vocals
Lorenzo D'Souza - Bass
Ralston D'Souza - Drums

I would've included a photo of them but their Facebook doesn't really have any usable ones, so here's a photo of a tiffin box pride parade:

Look how happy they are!

They're extremely talented, they've found something new, and they're making very very good use of it. It's a great idea really, getting a dude to sing Indian vocals along with your regular metal shit going on. I try to resist using retarded cliche phrases, but they've been making waves around town with their new brand of metal. The Bangalore metal crowd loves them. I read somewhere they've won 9 out of 10 school/college competitions that they've entered. Woah! So, the only one they didn't win was SF, but that's alright. I think with time, they actually might in the coming years. They've composed three songs so far, of which one's up on Reverbnation, as a free download.

Woah, intense!

1.) The Unforgiven Reality:
Starts off with the classical vocals right away. Screeching begins at 45 seconds in, with distortion. They claim they're "fusing Hindustani and Carnatic elements with strong growls and screeches". Sure enough, the Hindustani and Carnatic elements are there, but there don't seem to be any growls, nor does the harsh vocaling sound all that strong, but I think it just needs a little time to grow, it'll get there. The drumming's really good too in the song. There's a guitar solo from 3:00 onwards, great stuff.

Who Will Like It? Any fan of metal looking for something new.
Who Will Not Like It? No idea, everyone I know loves them. I don't know a single person who doesn't like them, even people who can't stand metal, cause it's noise, like them. So I can't say, really.
Where To Find Them? Reverbnation
Free Download? Yeap! Load it on your iPods bitches!
Lyrics? Nope, but what're you going to do with them? You can't screech along, and the Hindustani vocals are not in words.

They have two others songs by the name of When The Lightning Breaks and The Real Never Ceases. And a  pretty recently made one called Aphasia. But it's only available as live videos (and Aphasia is not even live video'd yet), and I really don't have the patience to sit through and listen to live videos, so I'll just wait for them to record more material and update accordingly. Till then, listen to this:
