Existence Failed

Existence Failed is a Groove Metal band from Pune. And I had the good fortune of watching them live at the Orphaned Land. And considering their one song on Reverbnation is up for free download, I put it on my iPod, and was listening to it on the way. And man, they're heavy, boy. And I was so impressed by their live performance that I had to blog about them before I left Pune. So here's one from Pune.

Sujay Deshmukh-Vocals
Pancham Lonkar-Lead Guitar

Soham Hundekar-Bass Guitar
Siddharth Bandal-Rhythm Guitar
Viraj Sose - Drums

And this is what they look like in the signature left-to-right order.
The drummer does not look a day older than 8.
Couple of things I picked up from their Facebook page, "Existence Failed... consisting some of the youngest musicians in the scene with the average age being just 16." Haan, that seemed very likely when I looked at them peeps. But if the drummer is 8, they could all be 18. Man, that dude needs to eat some food. Anyway, the page also says "played many gigs with respected acts such as Pitch Black Symphony, AbraXas, Dark Helm etc." I really really like that. They know to give respect where its due. AbraXas and Dark Helm, both are two bands that I, and indeed, anybody else should hold in high regard. Pitch Black Symphony I only heard for the first time yesterday, but I'll probably review them soon as well. Man they were great too.

I'll start with a quick gig review. They were opening for Degradead and Orphaned Land along with Chronic Phobia, Pitch Black Symphony and Silver. And they were first up. Great way to start a concert. The ticket said gate open at 3:30, I got there by 4:30, but gates did not open till 6. I had taken a 15 hour bus journey from Indore to watch this, it took me an hour to find the venue, and then I had to wait outside in the heat for an hour and a half. So, needless to say, I was a just a little pissed off. But when Existence Failed started their set, what a way to channel this pissed off-ness! It was unfortunate that the crowd didn't get going as much, and didn't give back to the band so much. But that's understandable I guess, I mean gates opened two and a half hours after they were supposed to. Impatience sets in. But they were fucking heavy. And it's rather unfair and unfortunate that they got cut off after only two songs. Leaving me wanting a lot more from this band. And I don't think they were told that there was just time for two songs. Really really not cool.

As a result of this, the preparation I had put in, listening to their one recorded song, did not bear fruit in the live arena, as they couldn't manage to play it. So, I'm letting it bear fruit in the blog here. The song is on Reverbnation, and it's called:

1.) Solitary Rebellion
Starts immediately with a super groove metal riff. Ten second introductory greeting growl. Hi! 40 seconds of intense riffage until the vocals begin. Great growling. Song slows down in the middle for a little bit, making space for some good headbanging moments. Guitar solo starts at 2:15, keeps going for an entire minute. And then ends with 12 second goodbye growl of the word "Rebellion". Bye!

Who Will Like This? Pretty simple this one. Fans of metal will like this.
Who Will Not Like This? Again, pretty straightforward, people who don't like metal, will not like Existence Failed.
Where To Find It? Reverbnation.
Free Download? Yeap!
Lyrics? No man, but the last growl says "Rebellion".

It's kinda sad that they didn't play this song at the gig, but maybe they will next time I see them. Who knows?

Alright so then, General Links:
