Silver

Silver is the third and last band that I'm posting about from the Orphaned Land concert. They're from Pune and play a mix of stuff, broadly described as funk rock. Their Facebook group indicates that they have about fifteen songs composed, so the least you can say about them is that they're prolific. But they've recorded and uploaded three on Reverbnation, so I'll be posting about them today.

Silver consists of four members, who are

Amit Godse - Drums
Mahesh Niroula - Vocals
Rishi Rai - Bass
Savio Sebastian - Guitars

And this is what they look like with an overdose of red. Left-to-right, of course.
We're told this is before a Taiwan gig. I think it's impressive enough that there was a Taiwan gig.

As mentioned earlier, they have about fifteen songs to their credit. Of which they've released three so far. If they record and upload one-by-one, I'll update the page as and when they do. If they record everything in one go, this page will soon be obsolete. So this is about the three on Reverbnation. Here goes:

1.) Sleepy Hollow
Two and a half minute instrumental. No drums though, just guitar and bass. Guitar's mostly acoustic. Gets the nice soulful effect, with the bass maintaining a decent consistent rhythm. This is probably what a guitar solo would sound like unplugged, you know? Good stuff.

2.) Feel The Heat
Starts with Mahesh singing the chorus, opening riff comes after. Lots of funk thrown in there. Oh man, so much funk. Lyrics are extremely ordinary though. But the chorus still pretty good though, mostly because of good riffage in the back. Great riffing in the bridge between the second and third chorus instead of a verse. And a solo after the third. Amazing solo, might I add. The guitarist is great, but you'll find out how great in the next song. Anyway, there's this really cool, drum rumble on the toms, with a funky bassline and some trippy guitar chords after the solo, giving way to kind of a badass riff. Then chorus. Very nicely done, pay attention.

3.) Funkie Junkie
HOLY SHIT!! This is what I meant by he's a great guitarist. What the fuck is up with the opening. Why is it so crazy? I wanted to listen to the song a little longer, but I couldn't... cause my face was melting.  Keeps up the craziness during the verse. The chorus is extremely sing-along, in fact the entire crowd was singing it during the Orphaned Land gig. Louder than Mahesh with a mic, might I add. "When I'm high enough, I don't  wanna calm down/ Cause I'm a FUNKIE JUNKIE!" You get what I mean right? Well, try it. Anyway, if the opening and the verse and all the links had such crazy guitaring, what's left for the guitar solo right? Wrong. Fuck. Listen to it.

That was all. Until more comes around. We'll just move on to the general links.
