Eagle Riders is a hard rock band from Hyderabad. Their Reverbnation also adds a tag saying Power Metal. But considering Power Metal generally has optimistic lyrics, and their one song is called "Depression, Anger, Pain", I'm just going to go ahead and reject the claim of being Power Metal, but they still pretty badass.

SuperVibe
SuperVibe is an Alternative Rock band from Bombay, and they seem to be obsessed with the word 'super'. For example, a couple of their photo albums are named "Super Rehearsals" and "Super Posers". Even their Facebook page proudly proclaims, "Everything is SUPER here!! (that includes you)". It's pretty cool, I'd say. I'm used to be obsessed with the word 'ultra' a little while ago, so I find the superness of everything pretty cool, yeah.

Sulk Station
A very good friend of mine, Sahil Kher, reviewed them in Haiku. Speaks a lot more than I ever can.
Girl, guy, computer
Voice haunts, wobbly bass dovetails
Beauty in fusion.
Anyway, on to my shit. Sulk Station is a downtempo electronica mellowdrama (they made that word up, I swear) duo from Bangalore. Ordinarily, I don't listen to this kind of music, but they were opening for The Bicycle Days at a free entry gig, which I couldn't pass up, cheap as I am. The evening turned out to be one of those not-so-rare cases where I enjoyed the opening act more than the band-being-opened-for. Of course, I say opening because TBD played later, longer and is generally a better known band.

Rusted Strings
Rusted Strings from New Delhi is another band which classifies itself as Metal/Progressive/Alternative on ReverbNation. A lot of bands seem to do that in India, never quite got why. But, by no means, must you mistake what I'm trying to say. Rusted Strings is definitely not just another band, as "Days of Reckoning" will prove to you.

Chaos
Chaos is an Old School Thrash Metal from Trivandrum. And to that extent, they deliver. At the time of writing this post, they were number one on the Trivandrum charts, so if at all you care about the Trivandrum charts, that should give you an idea.
Infidels Of Sanity
They play Progressive Metal and Psychedelic Rock, and are pretty darned good at what they do. At the time of writing this post, they were number 1 on the ReverbNation Metal Charts for Pune (Oh, I forgot to mention, they're from Pune). So I guess that should speak for itself, if you give a hoot about ReverbNation charts. I had the good fortune of meeting the Infidels of Sanity guys when they'd come over to play Strawberry Fields, they were staying in one of my friends' rooms.
About This Blog
The point here is basically to introduce anyone, who is willing to read this, to some smaller Indian bands. Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to cover enough ground to tell you about a band from your locality which you hadn't heard of. But that's a distant dream. (Not like your mom, huhuhuh)
I'm a student of NLS Bangalore, and well, the proxy server here blocks Facebook music player, MySpace music, SoundClick and GimmeSound. So that leaves ReverbNation and BandCamp as my only usable sources. ReverbNation being my primary source to find music.
It's mainly about the music, so I'll just be posting about what I think of the song, what kind of a person would like it, etc. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some interviews too, who knows?
Also, I have completely stopped listening to International music, so I will not be reviewing the latest Agalloch album, okay?
And finally, I don't have the patience to sit and listen to complete albums or the money to buy them, so I probably won't be reviewing complete albums either. Sites like http://indianrockmp3.com/, http://www.indianmusicrevolution.com and http://headbangers.in/ are already doing a much better job than I can ever do. Maybe I'll try it out later sometime, but just not now. Or maybe I'll get my roommate to do it. I'm just reviewing whatever two-three songs are available on a band's ReverbNation page. An EP's the max I can handle.
This is so you know what they're about, what kind of music they play, jack off to their solos. So you can support them, spread the word, attend their gigs, and hopefully when they have grown a bit, buy their stuff. And if you're an attractive woman, maybe grant them some sexual favours.
Finally, if you like band you find here, this is what you can do to support them:
1.) Go like their page on Facebook, cause that's what all the cool kids seem to be doing these days. I don't know, don't ask me.
2) Let them know you appreciate their music. Everyone's a sucker for compliments. Except me. Ok, maybe me too.
3) If there's something you don't like, or think should be changed/removed or can be improved, or any area where work needs to be done, let them know. Everyone wants to grow. But you don't have to be a bitch about it.
3) If they ever play a show close to you, go attend it. And hear their music before attending. Bands seem to like it if you shout the names of their songs before they can say "The next one's called..."
4) And when they release EPs/Albums/Merchandise. Buy it.
