Chaos

Chaos is an Old School Thrash Metal from Trivandrum. And to that extent, they deliver. At the time of writing this post, they were number one on the Trivandrum charts, so if at all you care about the Trivandrum charts, that should give you an idea.

The lineup, according to their Facebook page, is:
Abin- Bass

Nikhil- Leads
Kishore- Drums
JK- Vocals

And they can be seen in left-to-right order in the following photo
Wazzaaaaaaa!!!

Their music can most accurately be described as Old School Thrash Metal, just as they claim, saying that "our endeavour is to remain true to our roots" And they do that. Everything from their vocals to their song structures, to the guitar tones and solos, to the pounding drums ensures that they stay "tr00". They've recently uploaded two songs on their ReverbNation page, both of which were welcomed quite warmly by the community.

1.) Cyanide Salvation:
Very very straightforward track. Stays most true to the roots. Impressive pounding drums in the opening. Vocals very reminiscent of Tom Araya, I think that's a good thing? Haven't got a chance to read the lyrics, but the chorus is built along a rhyme to the -tion suffix, not the most creative, I guess. The guitar solo is markedly started off with a triple gunshot, that's pretty damned cool. Clocking in at 12 seconds, I think the solo could've gone on a little longer though.

Who will like it? Tr00 fans of Thrash Metal. Fans of Slayer. Anyone who likes to headbang.
Who will not like it? Guys looking for something "new and different" (not always a good thing).
Where to find it? ReverbNation
Free Download? Nope.
Lyrics? Nope.

2.) Game
Once again very true to the roots of old school thrash. But this one is a lot more groovy. The groove elements can be noticed straightaway from the opening riff. What I love about this song is the super amazing lyrics. The chorus goes "...the Game plays you", one of those concepts I've always been fascinated with. The lyrics, in proper thrash metal fashion, are socio-politically charged against the system. I know it sounds kinda cliche, but it's been well done, sort of rounded off by recurring motif of the Game playing you. Love it. Solo's much longer than the one in the previous song, almost half a minute.

Who will like it? Any appreciator of hard hitting metal and groovy riffs.
Who will not like it? Same as song 1.
Where to find it? ReverbNation.
Free Download? *Sigh* I wish. But sadly, no.
Lyrics? No, but if you ask them, they're nice enough to mail you their lyrics.

3.) Saint
They recently uploaded this song, and so I'm updating the blog entry accordingly. It starts with some sort of a spoken word intro, which I don't completely understand, but it sounds pretty funny. I have a feeling that was the point. Sounds like a preacher dude addressing a gathering and talking about God. Great opening riff though. Vocals in the verse, top-notch. Keep up the thrash. This dude has the perfect vocal style for good ol' thrash metal. Chorus is very catchy and anthemic. It has an actual chorus of dudes going "Woah-oh". One thing that stands out about this song is some great basslines going on. They become most noticeable during the guitar solo, which is totally sweet, by the way.

Who Will Like It? People who like Anthemic choruses, e.g.- Balls To The Wall, people who like the bass.
Who Will Not Like It? I don't know. I don't see any reason for not liking this.
Where To Find It? Reverbnation
Free Download? Nope.
Lyrics? Nope. I should ask them, and try to get a hold of the lyrics really.

This is the demo cover.
Well, in addition to this, their Metal Archives speaks of a demo by the name of Violent Redemption. Which has five songs. Game, Saint, Gods Of Death and two live covers. Game and Saint have eventually been released. But about Gods Of Death, they said, "The fate of 'gods of death' is not known as of now." So if ever they figure it out, and record + upload it, I'll go ahead and update the page right away.
