SuperVibe

SuperVibe is an Alternative Rock band from Bombay, and they seem to be obsessed with the word 'super'. For example, a couple of their photo albums are named "Super Rehearsals" and "Super Posers". Even their Facebook page proudly proclaims, "Everything is SUPER here!! (that includes you)". It's pretty cool, I'd say. I'm used to be obsessed with the word 'ultra' a little while ago, so I find the superness of everything pretty cool, yeah.

That's a photo of them, stolen from Facebook. From left to right in the given picture, the members of the band are:
Jeremiah D'silva - Guitars/Backing Vocals
Jesse Alex - Bass/Backing Vocals
Evan Johnson - Lead Vocals
Ashish Malvi - Drums

SuperVibe mainly perform super covers. Sorta like Are You Gonna Be My Girl, by Jet, and that's alright, I guess. But when Evan announced the song at SF, he pointed at my girlfriend, I wasn't particularly thrilled about that. However, they have a super original song up on Reverbnation too, which is currently (at the time of writing the post) on the second position at Myband.co.in

1.) All I Need
Great atmosphere going in the back. A very very fresh, happy feeling to the whole song. That's the USP of this song, the intense happyness and freshness of it. The atmospherics in the back are so strong that I refuse that the song is made on guitars, bass and drums. I bet there's keyboards involved, but I've never heard any mention of synth being used by the band, so it seems like it's basically just guitar, drums and bass doing the atmospherics, in which case superkudos to the band for pulling it off. Nice guitar solo from 2:40 onwards. I love the lyricless "woah ho ho ooh" going on in this song, manages to set the mood well. Second guitar solo from 3:56, bumper bonanza! Two solos!

Who Will Like It? Happy people, people who like the atmospheric effects, people looking for some fresh music
Who Will Not Like It? Well, um... people who need pounding drums, and growling I guess, else everyone should be cool.
Where to find it? Reverbnation
Lyrics? No.
Free Download? No.

2.) Reach Out
Somehow got my MySpace player to work, so I'm updating my blog about this as yet-unmixed song, because it's only available on MySpace. And it's pretty upbeat, on-your-feet kind sound. The drumming is definitely what sets the pace in this song. That's your defining factor here. Bassline's groovy going on kind. I've come to the conclusion that I really like Evan's vocals. Yeah, definitely. That's for sure what defines the fresh and happy feeling I was mentioning earlier. Jesse said it's punk rock, and it really is, but not in the crazy must-spit-out-all-lyrics-in-one-go kind of punk rock. I don't really like that stuff. Has anybody noticed how every song by The Ramones is basically the same? This is more laidback, it has all the punk elements in terms of sound and beat, but I'd say it's a lot more relaxed, there's no hurry. Nobody's missing a train. It's different from All I Need in the sense that the first song's a lot slower, a lot more atmospheric. This one's quicker, and well the atmospherics are missing, but that may just be because it's not mastered yet. I don't know anything about the production process, so I won't say much. The guitar solo from 2:07 onwards, super cool.

Who Will Like It? Happy people!
Who Will Not Like It? Metalheads. Not a metal kind of song.
Where To Find It? Myspace for now, hopefully Reverbnation after it's done with mixing and mastering.
Free Download? From Myspace? Hah! No way.
Lyrics? Nope.

Earlier, I was looking forward to a couple more songs, now I'm looking for an album from these guys. They're really up there, altrock, they know what they're doing. They really have this fresh sound which is awesome. And if you don't know what I mean by fresh, here's a photo of Evan from SF. Also stolen from their Facebook.

Hehe, his headgear is funny. Anyway, General Links:

@Jesse
Hah, sweet. Didn't think a band member would come across this page really.

Thanks for the link man, but MySpace music player doesn't work on our college server, so would it be possible for you to upload the song on Reverbnation, or mail it to me, whichever is easiest?
