Infidels Of Sanity

They play Progressive Metal and Psychedelic Rock, and are pretty darned good at what they do. At the time of writing this post, they were number 1 on the ReverbNation Metal Charts for Pune (Oh, I forgot to mention, they're from Pune). So I guess that should speak for itself, if you give a hoot about ReverbNation charts. I had the good fortune of meeting the Infidels of Sanity guys when they'd come over to play Strawberry Fields, they were staying in one of my friends' rooms.

Short introduction, the Infidels guys, from left to right, are:

Milind Rojatkar on Bass - Also known as Paranoid Park, for unknown reasons. Gets high on Morrocan Mint Tea, again, for unknown reasons.

Saket Rao on Drums - Stereotypical wildboy drummer. Don't let the innocent look fool you. Actually no,  there's no innocent look.

Prateek Bhaduri on Vocals - Very popular with the bandmates.

Akshay Patil on Keys - I'm assuming he's shy, cause he's the only member of the band I haven't spoken to.

Ronak Runwal on Guitars - Likes beautiful campuses and beautiful crowds. Reasons, once again, completely unknown.

They've uploaded three songs on their ReverbNation page:

1.) The Arsonist - This is just one brilliant song. Begins with 20 seconds of one of the most explosive openings I've heard in an Indian metal song. When the song normalises around twenty seconds into it, you'd be worried that a clean voice might spoil the riffing, but the vocalist holds his ground. I don't think that was easy. 70-second face-melting guitar solo. What's interesting is that the solo has some very awesome rhythm guitars going on in the background. That doesn't happen often. It's a raging pity that the band doesn't do this song anymore though.

Who will like it? Anybody who loves a good guitar solo.
Who will not like it? A retard.

Free Download? Yeap!
Lyrics? Not available. But not really needed, easy to follow.

2.) Not Today - Shows off the band's psychedelic side. Also one song where the keyboards are more noticeable. This really slows you down, but not in a bad way. Calming sort of an effect. Has a one minute long keyboard based opening. It can get a little boring if you're sitting and waiting for something to happen. But it's worth sticking it out, cause the bit that follows from 1:01 to 1:17 sounds like what a pendulum would sing, if it could. Really sets the mood for the song. It's this same pendulum effect which the rhythms follow while the solo takes shape from 3:10 onwards. Very very trippy.

Who will like it? Anyone who's high. Laboratory physics students.
Who will not like it? People who don't like slow music with clean vocals. Commerce students.

Free Download? Yeah.
Lyrics? Also, yeah.

3.) Ocean Rip - This is their latest song to undergo studio treatment. Less than a week old at the time of writing of this post. Again, in the vein of The Arsonist, the opening is electric. This time more riff-based, as opposed to Arsonist's solo-based nature. The drums here are better. The band keeps insisting that their new stuff is better than Arsonist, and they're not wrong. This one features a lot more keyboards than The Arsonist. You get a feel of the entire band, as opposed to The Arsonist, where it was turning into a one-man show. It sounds like Prateek's given absolutely everything into this song, very power metallish. Don't miss 2:56 to 3:01 where Prateek's power vocals are done along with some insane riffing in the back. Hair-raising. I'm not very knowledgeable about keyboards, but there also exists what sounds to me like a keyboard solo from 3:57 to 4:17.

Who will like this? Fans of power metal. People who like synth (if I'm right about the synth solo)
Who will not like this? People who don't like clean vocals. (Applies to other songs as well.)

Free Download? Nope. Or at least, not yet.
Lyrics? Yeah. Also, Saket's put up a note on Facebook with the lyrics, and also explains their meaning.
